Florida FRS Pension Calculator
The Florida Retirement System (FRS) Pension Plan calculates your benefit as your years of creditable service multiplied by a class multiplier multiplied by your average final compensation. For Regular Class members, including most teachers, the multiplier is 1.60%. Enter your numbers below for an estimate.
Enter your numbers. The percentage is pre-filled with the Florida FRS factor that fits most members; adjust it for your class or tier.
FRS Regular Class multiplier is 1.60%. Average final compensation is your highest 5 fiscal years (enrolled before July 2011) or highest 8 (on or after). This estimates the FRS Pension Plan, not the FRS Investment Plan. Confirm your class and numbers with MyFRS.

How the Florida FRS formula works
FRS uses a 1.60% multiplier for Regular Class service, which covers most teachers and school employees. Thirty years of service is worth about 48% of your average final compensation. Other classes (such as Special Risk) use higher multipliers, but teachers are almost always Regular Class.
Average final compensation depends on your hire date: the highest 5 fiscal years for members enrolled before July 2011, or the highest 8 fiscal years for those enrolled on or after that date. Note that Florida also offers the FRS Investment Plan (a defined-contribution option) instead of the Pension Plan, this calculator models the Pension Plan. Florida teachers also pay into Social Security. Questions
How is a Florida FRS pension calculated?
The FRS Pension Plan multiplies your years of creditable service by your class multiplier (1.60% for Regular Class) by your average final compensation. For example, 30 years at a $50,000 average final compensation is 30 × 1.60% × $50,000 = $24,000 per year.
What is the FRS Regular Class multiplier?
Regular Class members, which includes most teachers and school employees, earn 1.60% per year of service. Average final compensation is based on your highest 5 fiscal years if you enrolled before July 2011, or your highest 8 fiscal years if you enrolled on or after that date.
Do Florida teachers get Social Security?
Yes. Florida teachers pay into Social Security, so most receive both an FRS benefit and a Social Security benefit. If you chose the FRS Investment Plan instead of the Pension Plan, your retirement comes from that account balance rather than this formula.
