Arizona ASRS Retirement Calculator

The Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) calculates a pension as 2.1% multiplied by your average monthly compensation multiplied by your years of service. Enter your numbers below for an estimate.

Enter your numbers. The percentage is pre-filled with the 2.1% ASRS multiplier; adjust it for your tier or service level.

ASRS uses a 2.1% multiplier on your average monthly compensation (the average of your highest 60 consecutive months). Early retirement before your normal retirement age reduces the benefit. Confirm with Arizona ASRS.

Educational estimate only, not financial advice. Uses a simplified Arizona ASRS formula and your inputs; your real benefit varies by tier, service, age, and salary rules.

How the Arizona ASRS formula works

ASRS uses a graded multiplier that rises with service: 2.1% for up to 19.99 years, 2.15% from 20 to 24.99 years, 2.2% from 25 to 29.99 years, and 2.3% at 30 or more years. It is applied to your average monthly compensation, the average of your highest 60 consecutive months for members hired after July 1, 2011. Set the percentage to match your years of service.

This calculator uses a single percentage and a simplified formula, so treat the result as an estimate and confirm your figure with ASRS. Arizona teachers also pay into Social Security. Questions

How is a Arizona ASRS pension calculated?

The ASRS benefit multiplies a 2.1% multiplier by your average monthly compensation by your years of service. For example, 30 years at a $60,000 average monthly compensation is 2.1% × $60,000 × 30 = $37,800 per year before any early-retirement reduction.

What multiplier does Arizona ASRS use?

It is graded by service: 2.1% under 20 years, 2.15% at 20 to 25 years, 2.2% at 25 to 30 years, and 2.3% at 30 or more years.

Do Arizona teachers get Social Security?

Yes. Arizona teachers pay into Social Security, so most receive a ASRS benefit plus a Social Security benefit. Adding any 403(b) or 457(b) savings completes the picture.
